Too good NOT to post:

My Horoscope for 21 Sept:
Leo
By Rick LevineYou may not want to slow down long enough to acknowledge that summer's really over, but you'll feel better about it all once you put your unreachable expectations to rest. It's difficult to combine your role as an independent person with your current need to feel secure, no matter what happens. It will be easier to make your way through the day by admitting your feelings of self-doubt and then moving on.

7/13

So, could these kids be any cuter? My family arranged a pontoon party for my birthday and we spent the day cruising Lake Minnetonka. Good times.

Three Weeks Home

High recommendations for a bike trip on the Bodensee--even in the rain. Check out the lighthouse and the statue of the Bavarian lion on the harbor in Lindau. Folding bikes (Brompton and Dahon) are still a novelty in most places, but they travel great on trains in Europe and are a very nice ride.

Check out www.bergstrassebikebooks.com for great books on cycling in europe.

Spontaneous, indeed!

Monday, May 25th, 2009 -- There's no need to worry about what you should be doing today, for you are better off now just being spontaneous. Forget about entertaining and forget about calling your friends to go out. For once, just follow the course of least resistance, and let the day take you wherever it does.

I had a long chat with GG about the upcoming visit to Germany and it was sweet.

This just turned up...

Most people have inside of them a calling of some kind. When you heed that calling and begin living your life on purpose, pursuing what is most precious to your highest self, I call that ‘not dying with your music still in you.’

Another RGQ (Really Good Quote)

Trouble is part of your life - if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you a chance to love you enough. Dinah Shore

The Boys are Back in Town

New pictures of the boys, back from their first vacation in South Carolina. They now get to spend their days together with the Czar's Mom--who is also moving the family to their new house. What a woman!

Good to be home...

It was a lovely week in SC with the girls and the babies. Plans were to just hang out, cook and read books, but babies make anything more interesting. Highlights of the trip were watching Ivan experience sand for the first time and just watching Max smile.

March Max

Here is the latest picture of the Wild Thing. He still has blue eyes, but it looks like he may have lost the long, dark hair he had at birth. He is a sweetie.

Hmmmmm...

The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealised past.

8th Grade Words of Wisdom

Overheard not too long after the first section of the TerraNova: "Never put a cactus in your pocket". Can't argue with 8th grade logic...

Facebook pays off!

This afternoon, I had two requests to "Friend" on Facebook in my email, which lead to a couple of hours on the deck creating/editing my 2005 Facebook account, til now mostly unused. It may just be the tool for DoDDS folks to stay in touch. Anyway, nice.

Happy Birthday, Vargo!

Today is Vargo's 62nd birthday, so green font in his honor. I also used a new Google tool, Jing, to capture the Zen thought of the day. Vargo would have delighted in "Jing".

Mission accomplished

It's kind of fun to do the impossible.

There they are; two little guys who are going to change the world. Now, I am off to new adventures to write in postcards for the boys.

Books for the Trip to MN

One of the best things about flying is that I can just read and not have to worry about multi-tasking. In my backpack are: The Reader (because it was nominated), The English Major (heard about it on NPR) and the Loop Group, by Larry McMurtry, one of my favorite authors. I can knit when I get there, in between holding and playing with the boys.

Dr. Who (But which one?)

There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes.

I'm Back...

There are those who scorn the use of quotes, but I find comfort in using the words of others who have already written about the human, shared experience. So, hah!
Not being able to sleep is terrible. You have the misery of having partied all night... without the satisfaction.
Lynn Johnston (1947 - ), For Better or For Worse, 07-22-06

Sleep deprivation at 50+ is very different from the working mommy days: Then, I just gave myself a lot of credit for getting through the day. Now, I measure the depth of my craziness and am in despair. No baby to keep me awake at night, but a crazy, 18 year old cat who is mourning the loss of her sister. Rugby (a good old cat) started waking me up every morning, between 2 and 3 AM. Flexible, loving pet owner that I am, I just KNEW that this would pass and the Rug would get over the loss of her sister cat...twas not to be. It went on and on until I realized that I was functioning at 30% sanity and I just couldn't take it anymore. So, just before Christmas, I now have two cats in the yard, but they are buried under the trees... Murphy and Rugby had great lives, especially the the last two years in NC; lots of sunshine on the deck and birds to watch on the creek. RIP Vargo Cats.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
